SITE
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
Reasons for having a properly
prepared site:
- The delivery truck can get your building
materials onsite
- Insures the safety of the construction crew
- Is a key element to the structural integrity
of the building
- Avoid building delays and additional charges
Site preparation guidelines:
- The construction site should be level and
well-drained with grading so water flows away from the building.
- It is necessary to have at least 10’ of level
building site around the
entire perimeter of the building for the safety of the crew.
- Allow enough room for the delivery truck to
maneuver and for the crew to place trusses, steel, lumber, etc.
- Discuss proper fill material
with your salesperson and/or excavator
- A standard pick-up truck should be able to
maneuver on the prepared site without getting bogged down or stuck
- All topsoil must be scraped off and piled out
of the way to provide plenty of room for crews and material
- Excavator should install the basecourse or
other driveway material
prior to building material being delivered. Basecourse should have
jagged edges, not rounded, to prevent wash-outs in heavy rain.
- Your site & any fill brought in must be
free of buried objects or
other obstructions such as rocks, peat, concrete, debris, utilities,
excess moisture, high water table, etc. and have enough binder for
holes to be dug and remain intact without cave-in.
